How It Started
berncroft Ltd began with a simple observation: retirement doesn't mean slowing down. It means finding new ways to move, connect, and enjoy life.
In 2018, we noticed a gap in Ireland's leisure activities for older adults. There were fitness clubs, but they didn't capture the social energy and cultural richness that dance provides. We started small — hosting a bachata evening in Galway with just twelve people. It was chaotic, fun, and people came back the following week asking for more.
By 2020, we'd expanded our weekly socials across Ireland. Then came the pandemic, which forced us to reimagine everything. We moved online briefly, but we've always known that dance thrives on real connection. So we adapted. We created smaller groups, outdoor sessions when weather allowed, and we learned what our community actually needed.
Today, berncroft Ltd runs consistent weekly dance socials, quarterly retreats in stunning locations like Galway, and we've trained instructors who genuinely understand that teaching a 60-year-old isn't the same as teaching a 20-year-old. Experience matters. Patience matters. Making people feel welcome matters.
